The oncology nurse will be involved in all aspects of the inpatient oncology program, including patient/family assessment, patient teaching related to chemotherapy administration, supportive and palliative care, and treatment administration (Chemotherapy). As a member of the interdisciplinary team the oncology nurse will participate in the development and implementation of patient treatment plans; quality improvement processes and will support education and research initiatives. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario • Oncology foundations, chemotherapy and biotherapy, and psychosocial oncology courses from the deSouza Institute preferred • Chemotherapy administration certification preferred • Canadian Nurses Association certification as a Certified Oncology Nurse (CONC) or equivalent • Member of the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology • Minimum 3 years recent experience in oncology nursing preferred • Demonstrated experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team • Working with a variety of computer systems and software applications • Participation in education and clinical training programs • Good attendance record
