    POSITION:

    Part Time Registered Nurse

     

    HOURS OF WORK:
    7.5 Hour Shifts
    Monday Through Friday, Plus On Call


    JOB SUMMARY:

    The successful candidate will work primarily in PD Clinic, primary site at the Guelph campus. Demonstrated knowledge in adult teaching and care of peritoneal dialysis, pre-dialysis (CKD) and general nephrology patients as required. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Current Certificate of Competence – College of Nurses of Ontario

    • Able to provide on call service for the PD program within 2 weeks of start date.
    • Current clinical experience in peritoneal dialysis as well as CKD and general Nephrology clinics with a working knowledge of hemodialysis
    • Current certification in nephrology nursing
    • Demonstrated knowledge of provincial vascular access and PD initiatives
    • Demonstrated experience with Continuous Quality Improvement (Clinical and Process improvement)
    • BCLS
    • Certification in blood bank administration, IV drug therapy
    • A verbal, written and return skills demonstration for PD training may be required as part of the selection process
    • Current experience and ability to train patients independently for home peritoneal dialysis
    • Demonstrated sound knowledge of nephrology theory and clinical renal nursing practice
    • Demonstrated ability to provide adult patient education for both CKD and PD using recognized principles of adult learning
    • Skills in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating renal patient education for the care of pre-dialysis and pre-transplant patients
    • Demonstrated expertise in management of health problems and support needs for pre-dialysis patients
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team, patients and families
    • Valid driver’s license required
    • Good attendance record
