    Full Time Manager, Inpatient Pharmacy

    Monday to Friday- Days


    Reporting to the Integrated Director, Pharmacy Services, the Manager, Inpatient Pharmacy Services will assist the Integrated Director to execute the daily operations of the inpatient pharmacy department which includes inpatient units at both the KW and Freeport sites, the Emergency Department and ambulatory clinics, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. The Manager, Inpatient Pharmacy Services will work closely with the Pharmacy Leadership Team (PLT) members to ensure optimal patient care outcomes through effective management of pharmacy services and the development and implementation of strategic direction, goals and objectives for the pharmacy services.

    The Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy has the responsibility to:
    • assist in budget preparation, compliance with hospital policies and procedures as well as relevant standards and legislation
    • supervise pharmacist, technician and purchasing personnel, including recruitment, orientation, training, scheduling, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and performance management
    • monitor staffing levels and workload utilizing productivity targets
    • prepare reports and special analyses
    • ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication distribution systems including maintenance and functioning of automated systems, order processing, and preparation and checking of unit dose and central IV admixture services



    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy
    • Current pharmacist license with the Ontario College of
    Pharmacists, Part A Register
    • Minimum of five years hospital pharmacy experience
    • Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency preferred
    • Previous hospital pharmacy management experience, including
    • project management, human resources and financial resources
    • Strong ability to use computers, word processing, spreadsheet
    and e-mail systems; excellent knowledge of in-patient pharmacy
    computer system is preferred
    • Knowledge and understanding of legislation, college regulations,
    Standards of Practice related to pharmacy profession
    • Demonstrated commitment to the development of professional
    practice, mentorship, life-long learning and excellence in patient
    • Demonstrated current competency on pharmacy operations
    systems and designs, including achieving quality and
    productivity outcomes
    • Understanding of and experience with workload measurement,
    staffing/scheduling and budgeting an asset
    • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    and ability to motivate and guide individuals
    • A track record of successful transition/change management
    • Participatory leadership, team building and organizational skills
    • Excellent and effective abilities in both written and oral
    communication skills
    • Highly developed critical thinking skills and ability to
    conceptualize and analyze problems
    • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, planning and
    evaluation skills
    • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
    • Recognition and understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EI)
    and how EI is applied in practical situations with the ability to
    assess emotional factors
    • Demonstrated excellent organizational, information/data
    management skills
    • Demonstrated understanding of conflict resolution and ability to
    offer and receive constructive feedback
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within and across
    • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple and competing priorities
    on a daily basis
