    POSITION:
    Temporary Part Time Clinical Secretary
    Until approximately November 30, 2019

    HOURS OF WORK:
    Monday – Friday
    4, 6, or 12 hours shifts

    JOB SUMMARY:

    This position will provide clerical support for Adult Mental Health services in inpatients. Clerical staff provides support to a multidisciplinary mental health team working collaboratively and independently. Clerical functions include reception duties, patient admissions, discharges and transfers, preparing and sending correspondence, data entry, arranging and/or scheduling appointments, arranging patient transportation, maintaining patient files, and retrieval and ordering of supplies, preparing admission packages. Contribute to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Post-secondary medical secretarial or health office administration diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Excel
    • Proven organization skills and problem solving skills
    • Proven ability to remain task-focused in a busy and demanding environment
    • Understanding of mental health preferred as well as a positive attitude towards clients that enter the facility
    • Medical terminology is required
    • Working knowledge of physician billing codes
    • Previous clerical or related office environment experience in a health care setting
    • Ability to transcribe doctor’s orders
    • Knowledge of hospital computer software and programs
    • Ability to enter data efficiently and effectively into computer systems (60-70WPM)
    • Excellent communication
