    POSITION:
    Part-time Registered Nurse, Medical Imaging

     

    HOURS OF WORK:
    7.5 Hour Shifts Monday to Friday, possible Saturday/Sunday
    On call weekends and statutory holidays

     

    JOB SUMMARY:

    This position is a key part of a multi-disciplinary team and is knowledgeable in all radiology procedures including radiation safety. The Medical Imaging Nurse will be involved in all modalities of Medical Imaging, including CT, Ultrasound and Interventional Radiology. The role in interventional radiology is a large component of the Medical Imaging Nurse role as they will assume multiple roles in the multi-disciplinary team. The Medical Imaging Nurse will adapt quickly, and be flexible in their work environment and have an understanding of the demands of this unique team. Duties include but are not limited to, assessment and preparation of patients for a variety of radiological procedures, communication within the multi-disciplinary team and with patients as well as teaching and mentoring of new staff. They will contribute to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Current certificate of competence from the CNO
    • 2 years Interventional Radiology nursing experience required. Candidates without this experience may be considered provided they have a minimum of 2 years recent experience in Oncology, ICU, MDU, Day Surgery, Emergency Department or IV team and there are no qualified applicants
    • Must have a minimum of 2 years current experience in I.V. therapy (experience working with adult and pediatric, oncology patient population preferred) Experience and current working knowledge of all central lines
    • Critical care skills
    • Current CPR
    • General knowledge of all areas of nursing
    • Must be willing to work flexible hours
    • Demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good organizational skills and able to work independently
    • Good attendance record
