    Part Time Social Worker


    7.5 Hour Shifts
    Monday – Friday, Days

    Reporting to the Program Director, Children’s and Childbirth, you will work primarily in our inpatient interdisciplinary services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Provide individual/family assessment, treatment recommendations, referral to community agencies and discharge planning for patients and families in response to the unique and complex needs of this population;
    • Work effectively with members of the multidisciplinary team in establishing and monitoring processes, improving continuity of care for patients, and enhancing collaborative relationships with other care providers;
    • Provide clinical intervention to Inpatient Pediatrics, as well as support to diabetic, cystic fibrosis and oncology patients/ families.
    • Provide brief clinical interventions as well as crisis intervention as required, and facilitate referral to appropriate community agencies;
    • Participate in service committees and quality improvement initiatives as required;
    • Engages in professional development and continuing education;
    • Assist with program development and evaluation as required;
    • Participates in team building, service development and improvement activities striving to contribute to a healthy workplace environment.



    • Master of Social Work Degree with registration in good standing with OCSWSSW;
    • Relevant clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of children and families, to support the family-centered care philosophy;
    • Demonstrated knowledge of best practice guidelines pertaining to the assessment and treatment of psychosocial and mental health challenges facing this population;
    • Demonstrated advanced skill in mental health assessment and treatment interventions;
    • Demonstrated advanced skill in crisis management and containment;
    • Proven ability to work effectively with other health care providers and community services (ie Family and Children Services regarding apprehension: interpreter services.);
    • Proven ability to establish and maintain linkages with relevant community agencies (ie: CF Canada and Diabetes Canada);
    • Excellent organizational, prioritization and problem-solving abilities;
    • Proven to have strong interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication skills; positive attitude;
    • Good attendance record.
