POSITION VACANCY:  ADULT IN-PATIENT Mental Health POSITION: Temporary Full Time Registered Nurse Until approximately May 31, 2021   HOURS OF WORK: 11.25 Hour Shifts Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends   JOB SUMMARY:  Grand River Hospital offers exciting opportunities to registered nurses interested in developing a career in Mental Health.  Full paid orientation is provided & educational support is available.   The Registered Nurse provides psychiatric and mental health nursing care working within a team with individuals experiencing psychiatric and mental health problems.  The patient population includes the severely mentally ill and those who are experiencing a psychosocial crisis.  Nursing care is provided in accordance with the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (CNA).    The successful candidate requires the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with the patient, the family and the interdisciplinary team.  This position you will be required to work  primarily the general unit, but could be required to work on the PICA  unit.      The PICA is 6-8 bed, controlled access area that provides a low stimulation, intensely monitored environment for patients experiencing acute mental health difficulties requiring a high level of observation to maintain safety.  The PICA treatment team and milieu, support stabilization and recovery processes through assessment, treatment interventions, transition and/or discharge planning.   QUALIFICATIONS:  • Current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) • 2-5 years experience in Mental Health & Addictions Nursing preferred • Certification (CNA), Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing preferred, or willingness to obtain certification. • Post diploma preparation, relevant to Psychiatric and Mental Health nursing preferred. • BScN preferred • Practices in accordance with Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to engage in conflict resolution • Working knowledge of psychiatric and mental health disorders, the management of psychiatric emergencies  and related psychiatric/ psychosocial interventions and treatment models • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in administration and/or monitoring of psychotropic medications • Excellent interviewing skills • Evidence of putting recovery principles into practice with patients and their families • Strong skills in biopsychosocial assessments, care planning, crisis plans, psychiatric nursing interventions and complete outcome evaluation for individual care. • Case Management experience preferred, with ability to develop strong community agencies relationships • Knowledge of Community Resources required • Excellent Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act and other relevant legislation • Strong consultation skills with the Interdisciplinary team and Community partners. • Knowledge of Family assessment/Family systems theory • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills • Ability to conduct risk assessments, risk management and debriefing • Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors • Good attendance record • Advanced de-escalation, Code White training • Basic Rescuer CPR

POSITION: Unscheduled Part-time Environmental Services Aide Service 2   HOURS OF WORK: 7.5 Hour Shifts Evenings and Nights – 1600-0000, 1700-0100, 2200-0600, 2300-0700   JOB SUMMARY: The successful incumbent will be responsible for such activities as wet and dry mopping, washroom cleaning, vacuuming, machine scrubbing, changing cubicle drapes, laundry and garbage collection, equipment cleaning, waste and recycle removal and restocking along with other duties. Individuals will also be trained to do discharge and isolation cleaning of patient rooms. POSITION VACANCY:  Speech Language Pathology Rehab Outpatient – Freeport Site POSITION: Temporary Full Time Speech-Language Pathologist Until approximately October 31, 2020   HOURS OF WORK: 7.5 hour shifts, (Monday to Friday, Days)    JOB SUMMARY:  The successful candidate will work at the Freeport site of Grand River Hospital with an adult caseload. Working within an interdisciplinary team, including CDA’s, the speech language pathologist (SLP) will provide services for the Outpatient Programs, together with coverage on assigned inpatient floors.  The SLP will provide assessment, treatment, and education for patients, family and staff regarding the management of communication and swallowing disorders.   QUALIFICATIONS:  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology • Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASPLO) • Experience in an adult rehabilitation setting is preferred • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required • Good attendance record
